The problem
Photography and the website are usually booked as two separate jobs, often months apart. The pictures come back good, and then some of them will not sit in the space the page gives them: a wide strip across the top of a page needs a wide photograph, a phone screen wants an upright one, and a square photo cannot stretch across a banner without losing a good part of the picture off the top and bottom. Files straight off a camera are heavier than a web page needs as well, so the pages carrying them are slow to appear. It is one of the most ordinary things that happens on a website build — the shoot simply never saw the page it was feeding.
How we work
We plan the shoot around the pages the pictures are going into, so the shot list already says wide, upright or square before anyone picks up a camera, and every frame has somewhere to live. Everything comes back edited and saved at the size the page actually shows it, so a photo-heavy page still opens quickly on a phone rather than making a visitor wait. And before you book anything, send us the photos you already have — what we check is shape rather than quality, and often there is enough for most of the site, with a short shoot to fill the gaps costing a good deal less than a full day. If we are building the site as well, the shot list comes straight off the layout.

Shot to fit the page
The shot list is written from the pages the images will fill, including the shape each one needs to be, so nothing important ends up cropped out and you are not paying for a second shoot because a picture would not fit the space.
Files that do not slow the site down
Photos are edited, then saved at the size the page really displays them and in the newer picture formats phones open fastest — a picture straight off the camera is many times heavier than the page needs, and a page that keeps people waiting loses some of them. One limit worth settling before the shoot: those files are made for screens, so if you also need the photos for print — a menu, a banner, a brochure — say so and we deliver a full-size set alongside them.
What gets photographed
Venues, interiors, property, product, food and team portraits — the pictures a business site genuinely needs. Where they sit in one place, they are covered in a single visit rather than booked as three separate jobs on three separate days; where they are spread across a hotel or several sites, we will tell you it needs more than one day before you book it rather than after.
Licensed to you
The photos are yours to use right across your own marketing — website, social accounts, printed menus, listings, adverts — with nothing more to pay each time one is used and nobody to ask for permission. You keep your own copies of the files and can take them away whenever you like.

Questions
How much does commercial photography for a website cost?
Alongside a website build, a half-day shoot scoped to that build starts at €425 and covers the main image at the top of the page plus team and product frames. Standalone photography is quoted per engagement, because a single-location product shoot and two days across a hotel are genuinely different jobs — tell us what needs photographing and where, and we will price it properly. All prices include VAT, and work starts with a 50% deposit.
Do I need new photos, or can you use the ones I already have?
Send us what you have and we will look at it before you spend anything. Quite often there is enough to work with, or enough for most of the site with a short shoot to fill the gaps, and if that is the case we will say so rather than book a full day. The thing to check is shape rather than quality: a square photo cannot stretch into a wide banner across the top of a page without losing half the picture, which is why we plan what to shoot around the layout the images will sit in.
Where am I allowed to use the photos afterwards?
Photos we shoot for you are licensed for your own marketing, and you can use them anywhere in it — your website, your social accounts, printed menus, listings, adverts — with no per-use fees to keep track of and no permission to ask for each time. You keep your own copies of the files and can take them away whenever you want. One thing to settle before the shoot: files are delivered sized and compressed for the web so pages load quickly on a phone, so if you also need them for large print, tell us and we will deliver a set for that too.
